Simply over two months into 2025, the variety of pending AI payments within the U.S. has grown to 781, in keeping with an internet monitoring instrument.

The instrument, maintained by consulting agency MultiState, reveals that the variety of pending U.S. payments pertaining to AI now exceeds the entire variety of AI payments proposed in all of 2024 (743). In 2023, state and federal lawmakers proposed fewer than 200 AI-related payments.

The legislative chaos can largely be attributed to inaction on the federal stage. To this point, Congress has struggled to cross a complete AI framework similar to payments just like the EU’s AI Act.

The Trump administration hasn’t proven an urge for food for aggressive AI governance. In late January, Trump signed an government order directing federal companies to advertise the event of AI “free from ideological bias” that promotes “human flourishing, financial competitiveness, and nationwide safety.” However Trump has but to endorse main Congressional AI laws.
