Anthropic unintentionally precipitated 1000’s of code repositories on GitHub to be taken down whereas making an attempt to tug copies of its hottest product’s supply code off the web.

On Tuesday, a software program engineer found that Anthropic had, seemingly accidentally, included entry to the supply code for the category-leading Claude Code command line utility in a latest launch. AI fans pored over the leaked code for clues about how Anthropic harnesses the LLM that underlies the appliance, sharing it on GitHub.

Anthropic issued a takedown discover underneath U.S. digital copyright legislation asking GitHub to take down repositories containing the offending code.
